Hey guys, I was just wondering where you guys stood on the factor of if you think a gun should look good but not be practical vs a gun looking either wierd or just plain normal but being more practical and/or easier to handle or even weigh less.

For instances; you have a full metal, R.I.S., M14. Do you put the big bulky suppressor in place of the flashhider because it looks good, or do you not put one on because it adds amost 4-5 inches to an already long gun, and it's weight unbalances the gun?

For another instance; you have a full metal R.I.S M4. Do you put that rail on the top of the carrying handle  that just makes the scope/EOtech/Acog scope or whatever optic on the rail , awkward to look through because it's very high on the gun because it looks good; or do you just simply remove the carrying handle and put the optic on the actual rail itself?

I'm guessing that by now you guys should get the point, and this discussion doesn't just have to be about the M14 and M4 in the example, those were just to get the point acrost, I mean all attachments that are for looks in general. I was just wondering what everyones oppinion was. personally I am both, some attachments like an AN-PEC box just kind of belong, even though they don't need to be their in some cases(if you're gun isn't opperated by the battery in the box)  I can't wait to hear some answers!

For me I like my guns to look good or cool. I could put a scope or red dot or what ever but I wouldnt use it anyway ... I aim by watch were my bb's hit and adjust that way. Also I use accuracy by rate of fire.
I agree with Rama, I want my big boy toys to look cool. i have scopes that are mounted, but i cant use them because i wear a full face mask when i play, so i cant get down far enough to use it, but damn my guns are sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!
remember when mom wanted you to wear a raincoat to school and you thru it in the bushes before you got to school, same thing, rather look cool then feel feel cool!!!!!!!!!!!
i always try to balance it out actually, i try to get accessories that help with function but still look cool. i personally find having a red dot on my gun beneficial, using the dot as a reference point for where my bbs are gonna go. theres always a way to make a gun look good and have the things on it be useful. it just takes planning
Guns look good just being guns. If it didn't look good you wouldn't have bought it. Add-ons are nice, but if it isin useful it's just going to get in the way. Plus when you like the bigger guns like I do, extra weight is a bad thing. I actually removed the flash hider on my m14 recently because it served no other purpose than aesthetics. To each his own ofcourse, and everyone has their own style. If it makes you happy than roll with it. Chrome won't get you home. ;)

i agree with steve, chrome wont get you home. On that note i want my gun to look good too. but i think functionality should come first in a competitive sport. if it looks good but you get caught on every twig and vine (steve), or you cant keep your gun pointed down range because it weighs 13 pds and 9 of them are on the front end whats the point?
Some people go for the mock suppressor for bad ass looks, but its really there for being a barrel extension.of course, every gun looks cool with a can on it but think in terms of manuverability and comfortabilty. Having had and sold a M14 previously, it just felt too awkward to handle during engagements. I found in playing you dont need a barrel longer than 363mm..after that, they all have the same range.
What i did was install a 363mm TB in a m4 cqb with a barrel exrension. It made it just the right size for me.
It's all a matter of preference, so go with whatever gives you optimum performance
