What Do you think about Sniper Rifles?

I know alot of people think that airsoft snipers are dumb....and for noobs but i personally like them and was wondering what you guys think?

 yeah i wasnt planing on getting a Bolt action sniper but a dmr based semi auto 500-600 fps which is like a high powerd m4-m16 ...but first im going to a Scar since its my fav gun ...thanks for imput! =D

I agree with Chris, better AEG with scope & barrel. I snipe with my M4, if you don't hit them somewhere it really hurts, the sniper doesn't work. I am all for a target shoot with them though.

Sniping would not be a preference for me. I don't have the patience for it. I don't know anything that shoots 500-600 fps without a lot of upgrading except for polar stars kit. I played at oxcc and they had those on the field and one was sniping with it and hit multiple people's with it. It was awesome.

The concept of being an airsoft sniper has barely anything to do with kills. The reason we choose to be snipers is because we have a love for the art of stealth, camouflage, recon. field craft, intel gathering, and long range shooting. . As an airsoft sniper you shouldn't expect to get many kills in the first place, because to be honest: let's face it. I personally chose to be a sniper because of my love for military sniping. The fact that a two man team can stalk into unfriendly territory, spend hour upon hour with 100 percent focus on what they are doing gathering intel, confirming targets, setting up a range card, etc. and afterwards, calculate bullet trajectory in order to take a man out of the fight from over 1000 meters away, without ever being seen, heard, or even known to be in the area to begin with.  But the only downfall, is that we as airsofters, are limited to a very small range that our bullets can effectively hit a target. That's why being a sniper also consists of hours of working on your rifle and knowing it from the inside out and upgrading it to achieve its max power and accuracy. but even after all of the work you are still very limited to the range you can get a kill from. That's why as an airsoft sniper to make up for this lack of fire capability, we focus more directly on the other aspects of sniping; camouflage, recon, stalking, stealth, and being more or so a recon asset to your team. As a sniper, we also have the capability to take out a VIP target if neccessary, it is more challenging to do in airsoft, but it's possible. I play for mil-sim. so I have taken on multiple roles in my time as an airsofter, but sniping is where I specialize. Just thought i'd put my insight on the subject.

and by the way: chris, with my old steyr bolt gun, I lubricated the bolt and did alot of maintenance on the bolt of it. Trust me, I have no problem putting rounds down range at a very fast pace with a bolt gun. It all depends on the power and resistance of the spring and how used to the motion and reloading you are.

I love them i use one and ive sighted in in for maybe 50 yards at the fathest but i think mone can go farther

I wouldnt exactly say that 300' is a small range in airsoft. Most P* are good to 200', some a bit further. But 300'.....thats pretty good. Now the spray&pray guy is the one you gotta worry about.

300' range is incredibly good in airsoft. Even the best ER-hopped AEGs or P* can only get about 250' max with a flat trajectory. Any more than 250' requires "walking" your BBs to the target and extreme arcing. With a BASR, 300' is definitely possible with a single shot. It takes a tremendous amount of mo

You can definitely hit over 300' with a Polarstar. I have a FF Flathop, with a Orga 6.23mm Barrel, Purple Promo Soft Bucking, ProWin Hopup, Red Nozzle, with a Red Low Flow Poppet, At 80psi, 390fps and .30g BBs (with ideal conditions, wind, weather, etc.) you can easily hit up to 300', and with higher gram bbs, probably over. It has been tested and proven by AmpedAirsoft, just call them and talk to them and they can help teach you on how to do it.

390 FPS with a 0.20g or 390 FPS with a 0.30g (480 FPS with a 0.20g)? Those are two very different set ups. Additionally, most fields do not permit a full auto gun shooting hotter than 400 FPS with a 0.20g which makes your set up unusable under normal circumstances. Also, have you actually measured the 300 ft with a long tape measure? Can you hit a 12"x12" target with one or two BBs at 300 ft? 

Is a 300-400 ft range possible with an AEG? Yes. I've seen documented, video proof of it where the person measured out the 300 ft with a long tape measure and then fired 10 BBs, after which he examined the target. However, most people do not have the know-how to build something like that. As you mentioned before, it takes ideal conditions.
