Profile Information

Bio: The Maryland Airsoft Team ("MAT") was originally founded in 2008 as "SMAT" (Southern Maryland Airsoft Team) by Brett Garner, James Winstead and Adam Buckingham. They started with just three dedicated members and now boast over 100 today! Our ranks include a wide spectrum of skills and backgrounds from high school, middle school and college students, to active duty and ex-military, with several of our young members planning to join the armed forces shortly. Our team follows the US Army military rank structure with some airsoft-specific billets. Currently we are accepting members ages 13+ please although we occasionally make exceptions, especially in cases of parent/child. However, due to some tournament rules, some of the younger players may not be able to participate in formal events elsewhere, but will still be able to play in every one of our team games!

In 2011 with the reorganization of the team, "Southern" was dropped from the name to reflect the increased growth and regional interest in the team that streched far beyond southern Maryland.
