Just wanted to post a short review on the Echo 1 SOPMOD skeleton stock I recently purchased.
I ordered the stock from Evike.com, and it arrived in a plain brown box with an Echo 1 sticker on the front. I bought the small (180mm) length.
Opening the box revealed a small bag containing the wiring for placing a battery in the stock. Its supposed to take a mini stick type, but i do not have one to try it out. The stock itself was wrapped in a small plastic bag.
The build quality was decent, with some rough edges on the plastic molded parts. Its mostly made of plastic, with the metal bits being the upper and lower tube sections. The shoulder pad as a slight rubber coating, but is mostly just had plastic like the rest.
Inside the stock are the long screw and retaining plate used to fasten the stock to your buffertube/gearbox. You will need a 3mm Allen key to remove the shouder plate.
The stock is super easy to install, all you need in a long philips screwdriver, and a 3mm Allen key.
I had a 6 position LE stock on my G&G m4, so this little install will be with that. But most stocks are removed in basically the same fashion.
First remove the stock by pulling the detent lever, and pull the stock all the way off. Then remove the endcap covering the buffertube opening. Next locate the philips head screw deep inside the bufffertube and remove it.
Then all you need to do is slide on the new stock, and insert the screw and retaining cap, and lock it down tightly. We don't want any wobble in the stock.
Finish it off by putting on the shoulder pad. It has a detent on the top that you must slide the pad over, then insert the allen screw, and lock it down with the 3mm Allen key.
There you go. All finished. Easiest install I've ever done. The stock fits perfect, and lines up great with the G&G body. The short length is exactly what I wanted, and is about the same length as a LE stock set all the way forward in its shortest position.
Thanks for checking out this review. It was the first one I ever posted, so i apologize if it was sub-par. Any suggestions to make things easier, let me know. I have 4-5 more things to post reviews on, so feedback would be welcome.
